It’s Black Friday. Which means by now that you have been inundated with weeks of advertisements for “pre-Black-Friday rates” and “Sales all month long!” And it can be easy to get swept up by the greatest deals. Before you know it, you’ve racked up your credit card and loaded up way more than just under your Christmas tree.

Sound familar? While I may have embellished a little, we’ve all been experiencing the increased focus on holiday gift giving with the ultimate goal being larger bottom lines for some of the biggest brands in the business. They all spew the same message: give the gift of ________.

But is there something else we should be focusing on? Something more innately human, that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg? This holiday season, we here at Bay Area Wellness Center, urge you to think much smaller. Give yourself the gift of health and well-being. Maybe that means you decide to go for an hour long walk everyday in December, or 3 bike rides a week with your spouse. You might consider meeting a friend for an outdoor acitivity instead of dinner or drinks.

It might mean that you schedule a weekly Facetime, Zoom call or picnic with extended family. Or a subscription to an at-home exercise program. Maybe everyone chips in to buy an exercise machine! Whatever your picture of health and well-being looks like to you: remember that no one can steal your health from your front porch, and no one is able to replocate the love and joy you feel with your friends and family.

So this holiday season: let’s bring it back to the basics and focus on our own, and our family’s own health, happiness and well-being. Thinking small, might just provide us with much larger results.

Your team at Bay Area Wellness Center is here when you need us. Call or click to schedule today, and happy holidays.
